In this listed townhouse, the challenge was to preserve the classical elegance of the original architecture, notably through its mouldings and generous proportions, while infusing a contemporary touch. The contrast unfolds between the charm of the past and the clean lines of modern spaces, enhanced by luxurious materials such as rare wood species, natural stone, patinated metals, and meticulously crafted artisanal finishes, carefully selected and tailored for each area to create a unique identity.
The intention was to introduce darker wood tones into the flooring to create a warm and enveloping atmosphere. Softness, meanwhile, is expressed through the organic lines of the furniture and the wallpapers, some of which are embroidered or hand-painted by Maison De Gournay, depicting dreamlike landscapes that invite escape.
Finally, a collection of sculptural light fixtures, entirely artisanal and custom-made, crafted from hand-blown glass or alabaster, gently punctuates the spaces. Each unique piece was designed to interact with the architecture and subtly structure the volumes, while enhancing visual harmony and the overall coherence of the interiors.
